International Baccalaureate (IB)

International Baccalaureate (IB) Program At WMST

The IB Program is an advanced educational curriculum for highly motivated students who desire to obtain a world-class, internationally recognized education and the opportunity to earn college credit upon successful completion of their IB classes.

WMST implemented the IB Program several years ago and our IB students have been top performers both in high school and college.

   Noelle Pierce

"The International Baccalaureate program has helped me in college by  preparing me for heavy workloads and working on deadlines. I found that in college, there will be many things going on at once and IB has taught me that I should never wait until the last minute. Instead, I pace myself and work on things little by little until they are complete. This helps tremendously when I have to get a lot of work done in a short amount of time."

-Noelle Pierce, WMST Class of 2017 (Norfolk State University, Chemistry)

  Bethany Pruitt

“IB is an excellent program and without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am blessed to be attending Radford University on a full ride. IB prepared me for the college experience academically. The work load I got in high school IB courses was extreme compared to the work load I get now. I am in honors at my university as well as doing undergraduate research my first semester. IB is a great program and I would encourage others to take the courses and take them seriously. “

-Bethany Pruitt, WMST Class of 2017 (Radford University, Biology: Pre-Medicine)

  Brianna Spady

“The IB program has helped me because it prepared me for the workload in college. My work now isn't hard, the challenge is managing five classes but being an IB diploma candidate was similar if not more challenging because the work was more difficult. “

-Brianna Spady, WMST Class of 2016 (Hampton University, Political Science)

The IB Mission

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
